Rooted in Nature Raised by Creativity

Rohit grew up in Kerala in a home surrounded by trees and a garden full of fruit. They never bought fruit from the market because almost everything grew in their backyard. He spent his childhood climbing trees, building secret spaces in the branches and quietly watching the world from above. Drawing was just a small part of life back then but the seeds were already there.

Early Curiosity Craft and Joy

He loved sketching horses after watching them on Doordarshan but he was also fascinated by how things worked. He used to take apart remote control cars, pull out motors and build new things with them. He created ponds for his fish with stones and mud instead of using glass tanks because he wanted them to feel at home in a natural space. His days were filled with building, playing and observing.

The Family Thread of Creativity

Rohit’s creativity was passed down through generations. His grandfather on one side was a charcoal artist the other a goldsmith. His grandmother was a singer and his father was a mechanical engineer who loved fixing and driving vehicles. Without realizing it at the time Rohit inherited a piece of each of them. He believes he’s a blend of these talents and that’s why he says drawing was always in him not something he learned.

A Belief That Anyone Can Draw

He never studied art formally but drawing was always there. That’s why he believes anyone can draw if they have eyes and hands. Most people come to class believing they can’t but Rohit encourages them to let go of that thought and simply show up empty with no expectation. Through process and proof people start to believe they can and once that belief is in place anything is possible.

Meditation and Inner Exploration

At 17 Rohit was introduced to meditation. He didn’t know what to expect but it left a mark. Since then meditation has been a quiet companion on his journey helping him understand himself, stay centered and follow his inner compass. It also showed him how skills are inherited and how important it is to recognize the path that naturally feels good.

Finding Home in the Hills

In 2017 Rohit visited Bhagsu Nag near Dharamshala at a friend’s invitation. The lush surroundings reminded him of his grandmother’s home. It felt like home so he stayed. Unsure of what to do next he turned to sketching as a way to stay centered. One day a traveler saw him drawing and asked if he could teach. Rohit had never taught before but something inside said yes and that one moment changed everything.

From Bedroom Classes to a Studio

It started with just one student then more people came by word of mouth. Rohit began teaching from his bedroom. Soon someone offered him a bigger space, a hall they had rented but weren’t using. He didn’t have the money but a friend said don’t worry if you can’t pay I’ll cover it. That small gesture of support gave him the courage to say yes and take the leap.

The Name Was Born in Rishikesh

The name Science of Sketching came from a student named Mike who became a close friend. After struggling at first Mike finally nailed a drawing and Rohit said see it always works like science. Mike replied that this is Science of Sketching and the name stuck. It captured exactly what Rohit was trying to share, a process that always works.

It’s Not Just a Drawing Class

For Rohit sketching is active meditation. It helps people focus, slow down and reconnect. He’s seen students with ADHD find calm people with chronic pain find relief and others break emotional blocks they’ve carried for years. It’s a space where people start believing in themselves again and that’s where real change begins.

How He Learns and What He Teaches

Rohit learns by doing first then understanding the theory and repeating the process. That’s how he gets better whether it’s sketching or playing table tennis. This mix of curiosity practice and reflection is what he teaches. He wants students to understand how they learn because once they know that they can learn anything.

The Joy of Sharing What He Loves

Every morning Rohit looks forward to reaching the studio. Teaching sketching brings him deep joy because he’s sharing something he loves and watching people realize they can do what they once believed was impossible. It’s about helping people concentrate, believe and create from a space of calm and curiosity.

The Vision is Simple: Help People Focus

Rohit believes that the most powerful thing we can do today is learn how to focus. In a world full of distraction sketching helps bring your mind back to one point in the paper. When the mind is still and the body follows we enter meditation and from there change becomes possible. That’s the heart of his vision.

More Than Just Lines on Paper

Science of Sketching is a space where people come to reconnect with who they really are. It’s not just about charcoal or portraits it’s about letting go of limits and discovering new potential. Whether you’re someone who’s looking for a new direction or someone seeking to rediscover joy: the class becomes a doorway. It’s for anyone who wants to believe in themselves again and live with presence.

Beyond the Sketchbook

When he’s not teaching or drawing, Rohit is exploring – cycling marathons, long-distance bike rides, flying motorised gliders, or diving deep into books.
He travels widely, not just for the thrill, but to observe and absorb the world. Every landscape, every face, becomes part of his visual memory – fuel for his journey as a contemporary artist.

His curiosity extends inward too – drawn to the stillness of Advaita philosophy, which speaks to the unity of all things. This lens of non-duality shapes how he sees, draws, and teaches: not as separate from the world, but as part of it.

These passions have given him something deeper: proof. Proof that with focus and presence, you can master anything. That we are not limited by talent, we are shaped by attention, curiosity, and belief.

Science of Sketching is built on that truth.
A living example that we are all capable of more than we think. We are limitless beings, learning to see, feel, and create with joy
