6-Day Portrait Course

The 6-Day Portrait Course is a structured and personalised journey into the world of human portrait sketching. Across nine sessions, you’ll dive deep into facial structure, proportion, expression, and emotion – all through the lens of charcoal and the dry-brush technique. You’ll create two portraits: the first will focus on technical skills and techniques, while the second will be a more personal exploration. The third portrait is Begin a fresh portrait project, integrating everything you’ve learned.

This course is designed for those who want to move beyond objects and begin understanding the human face, not just technically, but as a living, expressive form. You’ll receive personal guidance, constructive feedback, and daily practice to help build confidence and sensitivity in your work.

No prior experience with portrait drawing is necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do I need any drawing experience to join?
Not at all. Our course is designed for complete beginners. We start with the basics, teach you how to observe, and guide you step-by-step into drawing realistic portraits.

2. Will I finish a portrait, and can it be of someone I know?
Yes — in fact, you will complete two portraits.
Portrait 1: A technical portrait where you learn all the core techniques (form, shading, texture, proportions).
Portrait 2: A personal portrait, for which you may bring a reference photo of someone meaningful to you.

3. How much personal guidance will I receive?
A lot. We offer focused 1-on-1 feedback throughout every session, ensuring you understand each technique and make steady progress.

4. Where can I stay, and are meals included?
We share nearby accommodation recommendations after enrollment. Meals are not included, but there are plenty of cafés and restaurants within walking distance.

5. Can I continue learning after this course?
Yes. You can join our 9-Day Master Portrait Course, an intensive program where we draw multiple portraits and also practise drawing hands, while learning advanced techniques, facial anatomy, fine detailing, and receiving personalised 1-on-1 guidance.
